Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Core the apples, leaving the bottom intact. You can use an apple corer or a knife.
- In a small bowl, combine the cinnamon, nutmeg, and chopped nuts.
- Stuff the apple cores with the nut mixture.
- Drizzle the tops of the apples with sugar-free maple syrup, if using.
- Place the apples in a baking dish and add about 1/4 inch of water to the bottom of the dish. This will help prevent the apples from drying out.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the apples are tender and cooked through.
- Serve warm, topped with whipped cream, if desired.
Tips:
- You can add other spices to this recipe, such as ginger or cloves.
- If you don’t have any sugar-free maple syrup, you can use a splash of water or sugar-free vanilla extract instead.
- Be sure to check the apples for doneness after 30 minutes. Baking time may vary depending on the size of your apples.
