Baked Apples with Nuts and Spices

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Core the apples, leaving the bottom intact. You can use an apple corer or a knife.
  3. In a small bowl, combine the cinnamon, nutmeg, and chopped nuts.
  4. Stuff the apple cores with the nut mixture.
  5. Drizzle the tops of the apples with sugar-free maple syrup, if using.
  6. Place the apples in a baking dish and add about 1/4 inch of water to the bottom of the dish. This will help prevent the apples from drying out.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the apples are tender and cooked through.
  8. Serve warm, topped with whipped cream, if desired.

Tips:

  • You can add other spices to this recipe, such as ginger or cloves.
  • If you don’t have any sugar-free maple syrup, you can use a splash of water or sugar-free vanilla extract instead.
  • Be sure to check the apples for doneness after 30 minutes. Baking time may vary depending on the size of your apples.
