Preheat Oven: Heat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

Cook Meat: In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef or sausage. Drain excess fat. Stir in pizza sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer 2–3 minutes.

Assemble Base: Spread the meat sauce evenly in the prepared baking dish.

Add Cheese & Toppings: Sprinkle half the mozzarella over the sauce. Add optional bell peppers or olives if desired.

Layer Tater Tots: Arrange frozen tater tots in a single layer over the cheese.

Bake: Place casserole in the oven and bake for 30–35 minutes until the tater tots are golden and crisp.

Finish with Cheese: Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella (and cheddar if using) plus pepperoni on top. Bake another 5–7 minutes until cheese is bubbly.

Serve: Cool slightly, slice, and enjoy warm.
