🍹 Instructions:
1️⃣ Prepare the Cabbage Leaves 🥬
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil.
- Carefully remove the core from the cabbage.
- Place the whole cabbage head into the boiling water for 5 minutes, until the outer leaves soften.
- Remove cabbage and peel off the softened leaves. Repeat until you have 10-12 large leaves.
2️⃣ Make the Filling 🍖
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, cooked rice (or cauliflower rice), Parmesan, onion, egg, garlic, oregano, salt, and black pepper.
- Mix well until evenly combined.
3️⃣ Assemble the Rolls 🌯
- Lay a cabbage leaf flat.
- Place 2 tablespoons of filling in the center.
- Fold the sides over the filling and roll tightly.
- Repeat with remaining leaves and filling.
4️⃣ Prepare the Tomato Sauce 🍅
- In a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat.
- Add crushed tomatoes, basil, thyme, sugar (or substitute), salt, and black pepper.
- Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
5️⃣ Cook the Cabbage Rolls 🍽
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Pour half of the tomato sauce into a baking dish.
- Arrange cabbage rolls seam-side down in the dish.
- Pour remaining sauce over the top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45-50 minutes, until the rolls are tender and fully cooked.
6️⃣ Serve & Enjoy 😋
- Let the cabbage rolls rest for a few minutes before serving.
- Sprinkle with extra Parmesan cheese and serve hot!
